Family LawDivorce: Procedure

When you are sure that there is no future in your marriage, the next step is usually to consider filing for divorce to formalise your separation.

A divorce begins with a petition and ends with a decree absolute. It usually takes at least 6 months to go through the process. Here at Clapham & Collinge we offer a free half hour consultation where we can give you a realistic view of your options and set out an action plan. We will at all times give you guidance with the aim of achieving your desired outcome.

At Clapham & Collinge we work extremely hard to make sure that at all stages we are working in your best interests and thinking creatively and proactively about  the best options for you.

Divorce has an impact upon not just husband and wife, but also on children and the wider family.  Our expert lawyers spend time carefully putting a plan together with you in order to cause the least harm to the wider family.  We will advise on the financial arrangements that need to be put in place.

Separation

We provide advice relation to all aspects of separation whether relating to your home, money or arrangements for care of the children. We also advise grandparents and concerned relatives too. If it is possible to resolve issues amicably we will always endeavour to do so however some serious disputes may need court action whereupon one of our team of robust litigators will guide you through this process.
