Emerald joined the firm as a paralegal in 2015 after completing her law degree at the University of East Anglia where she obtained a 2:1. Whilst at university, Emerald was an active member of the university law society and was Head of the Negotiation Competition and was the sole founder of the Mediation Competition. She also spent time volunteering with a local charity as an appropriate adult which involved safeguarding the welfare of youths and vulnerable adults whilst detained in police detention and ensuring that the police were adhering to their legal requirements.
As a Paralegal, Emerald was based in the Business Support Team and primarily assisted the litigation team.
Emerald combined working full time with her studies and went on to study the Legal Practice Course at De Montfort University in Leicester. She passed the course in July 2017 with a distinction. She was also awarded the Leicestershire Law society award for the best student on the LPC (part-time) Stage Two.
Emerald commenced her training contract with the firm in August 2017. Her first seat was with the Family Team. She assisted the team in a wide variety of matters including divorce and separation, financial relief proceedings, TOLATA claims as well as dealing with private law children matters including child arrangements. Emerald has a particular interest in Children Act matters.
For her second seat, Emerald has joined the litigation team. She will be assisting the team with commercial disputes, debt recovery, landlord and tenant matters and contentious probate including trust disputes.
Outside of work Emerald enjoys baking, cooking and attending fitness classes.
"I would like to say how kind and compassionate Emerald has been throughout her dealings with my family law case whilst at all times remaining extremely professional and knowledgeable. It is a real skill to be able to show all these attributes and to get the balance right as she has, and I wish her well in her career." Client thank you email, January 2018.
