County Conference provides essential toolkit to Norfolk Charities

Charities are adapting to a rapid pace of change to meet the needs of their audience and service users. During this digital revolution charities are facing increasing pressure to comply with regulations, implement robust safeguarding systems, reduce expenditure and most importantly; generate revenue to sustain a high quality service.

On Wednesday 12th June, we delivered our first Charity Conference to inspire and offer practical solutions to Norfolk Charities from a range of local businesses within the professional services industry. During the conference workshops were delivered by charity specialists from Clapham & Collinge Solicitors, Alan Boswell Group (Insurance Broker and Independent Financial Planners), MHA Larking Gowen (Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors) and Spalding & Co (Chartered Surveyors).

Over 80 delegates representing many charities across the county joined us to explore what the future has in store for the VCSE sector as we addressed many of the key issues that are likely to affect the charity sector over the coming years.

Michael Olmer from Clapham & Collinge's Charities Department covered legal areas including charity structures, conversions ethics and governance. Click here to download the slides from the workshop.

Giles Kerkham from MHA Larking Gowen covered topics including tax benefits to charities and donors, charity trading, gift aid and retaining income. Click here to download the slides from the workshop.

Ben Hewitt from Alan Boswell Group, Emma Robertson from Waverton and Jon Preston from Alan Boswell Group covered areas including charities investing, risks to charities, reserves and investment policies and trustee indemnity insurance. Click here to download the slides from the workshop.

Nigel Morgan from Spalding & Co covered property options for charities, general principles, occupational leases and property management including maintenance, compliance and budgeting.
