Location: Norwich | Full time

Salary – TBC depending on experience.

This is a full-time, on-site role, for a Court of Protection Case Worker located in Norwich, Norfolk. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the busy Court of Protection team with the day-to-day management of our clients’ financial affairs.

Lin Whitehead, our Head of Private Client Department, is a member of the Office of the Public Guardian’s Panel of Professional Deputies and has a busy and varied caseload of clients who have been referred to her as they cannot manage their own affairs and require a Deputy. Our clients’ circumstances are all different -some have multi million-pound estates, others more modest means. Our role is to act at all times in their best interests when dealing with matters the client cannot decide for themselves.

The Case Worker role supports the Deputy in her management and decision making for clients. This is an interesting and varied role which includes routine “life administration” on behalf of the clients such as banking and reconciling payments, making purchases and supporting clients’ choices alongside legal work such as drafting applications to Court and liaising with the Court service. As such the ideal candidate will be both academically able and practically inclined.

The role:

Being the main point of contact for clients
Managing an active caseload
Prioritising workload, ensuring all deadlines and targets are met
Attending client meetings
Communicating with clients in writing, by email and on the telephone
Carrying out general administration such as opening files and billing
Preparing correspondence and legal documents
General case management to ensure the files are progressed in a timely manner

The ideal candidate will have:

Excellent administration, IT and Research skills
The ability to read and analyse lots of complex information
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Excellent relationship skills ensuring the highest level of service is provided to clients many of whom are vulnerable and have specific communication needs
