Raising Dementia Awareness in Norfolk

At Clapham & Collinge we pride ourselves in playing a part in making Norfolk a more welcoming and friendly place for people whose lives are affected by dementia. We're committee members of the Norwich City Dementia Action Alliance, members of Sheringham Dementia Friendly Community Group, our lawyers and client facing staff are 'dementia friends' and we are very proud to be a dementia friendly business.

As part of our pledge to raise awareness of dementia in our county, we were pleased to host a free-to-attend dementia training workshop on Wednesday 9th October at our Norwich office. Claire Gilbert of CareRight delivered a workshop to our clients, members of the public and business professionals which covered the different types of dementia and how those living with dementia can be affected. Attendees at the workshop were provided guidance on how they can help those living with the condition, and how they can use more effective communication as a method to make their lives more comfortable. The workshop concluded with each attendee being made a 'dementia friend'; an initiative lead by the Alzheimer's Society's to change people's perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.

For the first time, we were delighted to welcome 'That's Norfolk TV' to the workshop and you can view their coverage of the session below:
